on solutions

so here's the thing. a lot of people percieve whats going on in palestine as this complex totally incomprehensible 'conflict'. and then when you start discussing the 'conflict' there are calls for a 'solution'.

let me be clear on a few things.

1. there is nothing complicated about palestine. colonialism is a very straight-forward thing. when a people invade your country and drive you out of your land through various means (and continue to do so for sixty plus years) on the pretense that God has chosen them- shit is gonna happen. and this is what we are dealing with now.

2. a solution: someone approached me and wanted me to present on the palestinian issue but to present it as an issue that has a solution. of course it has a solution. the state of israel, in its current racist form, cannot continue as is. it must be boycotted. the solution isnt about one state or two state. one or two states- that's simply the means by which we can get to our goal. the goal is justice on three basic principles: 1. right of return for refugees 2. equality for palestinian citizens of israel 3. ending the occupation in the west bank in gaza. so like i said, in order to reach our goal, we need to boycott.

3. on palestinian politics: yes, its pretty f'ed up. its not complicated, though. there is much we could agree on if we wanted to. but there are those of us who have their own interests at heart (and i am accusing everyone here). the thing is we're not strategic. and we don't plan. but its never too late.

ok sorry for the rant. i had to get that out.
